Ukraine war crimes trial: Russian soldiers learn their punishments

Two captured Russian soldiers have each individual been sentenced to 11.5 many years in jail Tuesday just after pleading responsible to shelling a town in eastern Ukraine through the war, a report suggests. 

Alexander Bobikin and Alexander Ivanov were being advised their punishment although standing inside a glass box at a district courtroom in central Ukraine, in accordance to Reuters. 

“The guilt of Bobikin and Ivanov has been confirmed in full,” Decide Evhen Bolybok reportedly mentioned. 

The choice comes just after a 21-yr-old Russian soldier was handed a lifestyle sentence for taking pictures a 62-year-aged person in the head in the early days of the war.

RUSSIAN SOLDIER SENTENCED TO Life IN Prison FOR KILLING UKRAINIAN CIVILIAN 

Bobikin and Ivanov admitted to firing at targets in the Kharkiv location from the Belgorod border region in Russia, in accordance to Reuters. 

The strikes reportedly ruined an educational facility in the town of Derhachi.

Their defense lawyer had asked for leniency, proclaiming the troopers – a person an artillery driver and the other a gunner – ended up just subsequent military services orders and have repented for their actions.

“I am wholly guilty of the crimes of which I am accused. We fired at Ukraine from Russia,” Bobikin told the court docket, in accordance to Reuters.

Both troopers ended up captured immediately after they crossed the border in Ukraine and continued shelling, Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s business office claimed.
